Born in Durham , North Carolina, I attended Chowan College (currently Chowan University). Received my Associate of Science degree in 1982. I attended North Carolina Central University, where I graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Science. Further studies in HIV/AIDS were done at Florida Community College at Jacksonville and the University of Florida where I received my certification in HIV/AIDS counseling and phlebotomy respectively. 2004 Georgia Licensed Real Estate Agent. In 2007 received Masters Degree in Conflict Management from Kennesaw State University. Doctoral Candidate, General Counseling Studies - Capella University.

I have worked in the field of HIV/AIDS for over 13 years. I have traveled throughout the United States to conferences and workshops in order to remain knowledgeable of new research and treatments that are available to clients. Serving as a consultant, I have spoken at various national seminars and conferences. As a HIV/AIDS Health Educator, I have developed programs and workshops to empower and encourage those living with HIV/AIDS. I conduct weekly community HIV/AIDS outreach to those at the highest risk of contracting the virus. I am certified in HIV counseling & testing and “Train the Trainer” by CDC. As a result of consistent quality service, I have received numerous awards and citations, been profiled by the media and have achieved respect in the HIV/AIDS community. My goal is to extend my educational outreach beyond the United States and work with organizations utilizing my work, educational skills and experiences in the HIV/AIDS field to make a change in the lives of others on a global scale.

I serve on Georgia Community Planning Group, Ryan White Planning Council (Fulton and Cobb), (Chairperson) Metro-Atlanta HIV/AIDS/STI Community Leadership Coalition, Georgia Medical Monitoring Project Community Advisory Board Member, John Kappers AIDS Community Service 2006 Award Nominee, and Cobb County Community Resource Coalition.

Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s the United States was just beginning to acknowledge that human immunodeficiency virus was not just a homosexual disease, but a disease that kills all. Men, women, children, straight, gay, and lesbians. It took the deaths of famous people to draw attention to how this disease has no respect of person. I remember hearing about Rock Hudson’s illness and later death that shook America. His death as sad as it had been, was a blessing to many. It made the people of this country stand up and take more interest in this disease and placed funding, and research in combating it. Black America woke up when basketball great Magic Johnson disclosed his HIV status. While growing up, several of my friends had become infected or died. I wanted to help do my part in educating the community of this dreadful disease. With God’s Grace and Mercies, I am here today. God has brought me to this point in my life and has kept his hand on me and focused on what I should do and has provided all that I need to help. I'm in my purpose.

I had my first experience in HIV/AIDS in Jacksonville Florida where I was an Outreach Worker. In the early 90’s, Jacksonville was ranking third in the top cities with the number of HIV cases reported. As an Outreach Worker I had hands on experience with infected and affected people. There I had counseled and tested thousands. I was touched when an 18 year old youth came to me for a test. He was diagnosed with AIDS. His T-cell count was below 200 and he had no knowledge of the disease. It was then when I started “Someone Cares”.

Now let's keep it real. We all know of someone that is infected, affected or has died from it. Now raise your hand if it wasn't for God's grace and mercies, you would be positive. Just wasn't yo time. So let's keep the education moving!

“Someone Cares” promises to continue to fight against HIV/AIDS through educational and prevention programs, rendering confidential, caring, and quality service. We are asking everyone to join the fight and help save a life. .

God Bless!
